Before becoming Ristorante Il Solitario, this place was a home. It was known as “del Solitario” and was a genuine *osteria*—the kind of place where you would walk in, sit down at a table, and enjoy traditional Anacapri cuisine, plain and simple.

In the 1960s, this house was tended by Giacomino and Giuseppina—husband and wife—who created a place defined by hospitality, simplicity, and authentic flavors.

Next came the second family: Linda e Fabrizio, together with their children Massimiliano e Artemia, who propelled Il Solitario to great heights, passionately continuing the Anacapri tradition and making it a landmark for visitors to the island.

Today we are the third family to write this story: Carmen, together with their children Vincenzo e IlariaA home-tavern in Anacapri where people lived, cooked and welcomed guests with traditional dishes. “sann fatt’ l’oss” — as we say in dialect, “we were raised on it.”

Il Solitario is one of the last remaining historic, family-run restaurants in Anacapri. The tiles, the ivy, the original features, and that intimate atmosphere are not merely for show—they are living history. We cherish them because history is not erased; it is passed down, one dish at a time.

And when our guests—especially those arriving from afar—tell us that they feel at home here, it is the greatest compliment for us. Because, after all, that is exactly how it is: this is our home, and every day we are happy to open it up to you, too.
